THANK YOU to all who contributed to the Spirit of East Harlem gala!
The 2016 Spirit of East Harlem gala took place on October 18, 2016 at the Pierre Hotel and celebrated a legacy of service to East Harlem. The honorees included Samuel A. Ramirez, Sr., founder and CEO of Ramirez and Co., Inc.; Diane Ramirez, CEO of Halstead Property, and the Ramirez family. It also honored the Little Sisters of the Assumption and Helen T. Lowe for for improving the quality of life for vulnerable New Yorkers.
“Our honorees represent the best of New York,” said George Stonbely, co-chair of the Spirit of East Harlem gala. “The Little Sisters of the Assumption congregation, which established a mission in the U.S. 125 years ago, have touched the lives of thousands. Helen Lowe has worked tirelessly over the past 20 years, alongside four Cardinals, to focus attention on the work of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. And the Ramirez family sets a high standard for individual and corporate philanthropy. LSA Family Health Service is proud to recognize the invaluable contributions that the Spirit of East Harlem honorees have made to New York families.”
Close to 500 guests attended the event at the Pierre Hotel, which raised $1.3 million for LSA Family Health Service’s health, education, and family support programs. The event included a silent auction and a live auction kicked off by a salsa dancing exhibition.
